What is a retractable truck bed step and how does it work?

A retractable truck bed step is a compact, fold-out step mounted under the rear bumper or bed rail of a pickup truck. Unlike fixed running boards or hitch steps, it stays hidden when not in use and deploys with a simple kick or push of the foot. The WOLFBOX Retractable Bed Step uses a purely mechanical kick-to-deploy linkage — no motors, no wiring, no batteries. You nudge it with your boot, it swings out to a stable 6-inch-wide platform, and when you're done, a gentle kick folds it back flush under the bumper. The entire mechanism is built from heavy-duty die-cast aluminum with a dual-layer e-coating and powder coating for rust resistance.

Will the WOLFBOX bed step fit my specific truck?

The WOLFBOX Retractable Bed Step is vehicle-specific — each model is precision-engineered for a particular make, year, and trim. For example, the F-150 version fits 2021-2026 Ford F-150 and 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning, but does NOT fit the Ford Raptor or any model with factory dual exhaust or aftermarket exhaust systems. It mounts on the driver side only. WOLFBOX currently offers fitments for Ford F-150, Ram 2500/3500 (2019-2026), Toyota Tundra (2022-2026), Toyota Tacoma (2016-2023 and 2024-2026), Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500 (2019-2026) and 2500HD/3500HD (2020-2026), Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty (2023-2026), and Jeep Gladiator JT (2020-2026) — and we are continuously developing and expanding our lineup to fit more trucks, including solutions engineered for vehicles with factory dual exhaust systems.
